GATHERING AROUND THE TABLE
This is the most amazing picture to me. Of course you recognize it as one of Norman Rockwell's lovely paintings, but to me - it is like a flashback in time. That little grandmother looks exactly like my Grandmother Knight. The Grandfather also resembles mine, though not as thin, just before he would sit and all talking would cease and heads would bow and you could hear a pin drop until he was ready to offer his very humble blessing:
"Gracious Lord
pardon our sins
make us truly thankful
for these and all other blessings
for Christ's sake
Amen."
My memories of sitting around their Thanksgiving table are so strong and precious. And those memories go back two generations. But those examples were set for my parents and for us and for our children and grandchildren. It is really wonderful to think how God has blessed through the years. I just absolutely LOVE Thanksgiving and don't like to skip quickly into Christmas without pausing and embracing this season of the year. And I pray that we translate our Thanksgiving into Thanksliving and remember our roots of love and faith.

I really like this statement, Marlene, because I feel the very same way. We seem in such a hurry to get to Christmas we give Thanksgiving a cursory glance and rush ahead.
I've never been skiing but I suppose the feeling of pushing off to go down a steep hill must be similar to the feeling I have right now about Christmas. Everything rushes past and you are completely out of breath and unable to fully enjoy the moment. I am going to do my best to take the slow train this time.
Hello Mar,
Thank you for stopping by my blog the other day. You have a wonderful place here. I love how you talk about God in every aspect. My youngest is named Marli. We call her Mar for short. :-) You are welcome back any time.
