FOLLOW FOLLOW, I WOULD FOLLOW JESUS
ANYWHERE, EVERYWHERE
I WOULD FOLLOW HIM
FOLLOW, FOLLOW, I WOULD FOLLOW JESUS
ANYWHERE HE LEADS ME I WOULD FOLLOW HIM

That chorus to an old, well known hymn has been ringing in my mind this morning. Today is my birthday. I am three score and one years old. Sounds old. Feels old some days. But this morning I am feeling young and eager for this new day, for this new year and for whatever God has in store for me, His servant. I do want to follow Him, obeying and serving where He would lead. We are still in this "in between" phase of our lives. We aren't sure just what to do next, except for one thing. Of this I am sure - that FAITH in the One who made me, loves me, forgave me, saved me - is the one thing I must have. Faith in the Lord to lead and guide in His own good time is something I can absolutely count on. And that is what pleases Him. For that I am eternally grateful. It is going to be the most exciting year. Any day now we expect to be welcoming into our family a little baby girl. This year we will continue to watch with great pride and joy the lives of each of our daughters and sons-in-love who have contributed to our many wrinkles, and our delightful grandchildren who have given our eyes their twinkles. I feel so blessed and thankful. Its a wonderful new day......

Mar,
CONGRATULATIONS! I know you must be overjoyed on little Paisley's arrival. I'm glad to hear Mama and Baby are doing fine and the proud Papa is overjoyed.

Blessings to your entire family!

This year-old blog caught my attention this morning because of the quotation from William Cushing's hymn at the beginning. As one who is about to reach his "three score and ten," I'm a little ahead of you. But it's good to hear of a brother still going on with the Lord.

If you enjoy reading about our hymns and their authors, I invite you to check out my daily blog on the subject, Wordwise Hymns. After about 40 years in the ministry, writing about our hymns is what I do now.

And if you’ll excuse a brief “commercial:” If you do not have a good book on the subject of our Christmas carols, I encourage you to take a look at my own, Discovering the Songs of Christmas. In it, I discuss the history and meaning of 63 carols and Christmas hymns. The book is available through Amazon, or directly from Jebaire Publishing. (Might make a great gift too!)
